he Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District is recognized as one of the top school districts in the state. In fact, it is one of only 18 out of the 611 school districts in Ohio to earn the highest ranking of “Excellent with Distinction” awarded by the Ohio Department of Education for ten consecutive years.The school district strives to inspire and prepare students to be lifelong learners, to be flexible in approaching opportunities for growth, and to be effective as well as ethical contributors to the global society. A new co-curricular initiative for the current year is an increased concentration on the environment. “Going Green Teams” have been established at each school and have undertaken age appropriate projects. Approximately 4,500 students are enrolled in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District and attend classes in the one high school (9-12), one middle school (6-8), one intermediate school (4-5) and 3 elementary schools (K-3). All students living in Brecksville, most of Broadview Heights and a small portion of North Royalton attend the district. Brecksville-Broadview Heights students continue to achieve in academics, as well as in areas of fine and performing arts and athletics. For more than fifty consecutive years, BBH seniors have been honored by the National Merit Scholarship Program as Commended Students, Semifinalists and/or Finalists. The Class of 2009 earned a record $8.1 million in scholarship offers. Cleveland Magazine routinely ranks the district as one of the top suburban districts in the area. The BBH Gymnastics Team set a state record in 2010 by winning their seventh consecutive state title. Students in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District expand their horizons by participating in extra curricular opportunities ranging from serving as a member of the BEE-TV crew to mentoring special education students to serving as a member of the Mock Trial team. Students in the district continue to outperform their peers on college entrance exams. Typically, they score above both the state and national mean on both the SAT and ACT tests. Advanced placement courses are offered and last year seventy percent of those high school students who took the Advanced Placement examinations earned college credit. Over ninety percent of last year’s graduating class is continuing their education at the university or college level.The school district continues to work with the community on a number of projects including the Partnership for a Healthy Community, the Safety and Security Committee, the Business Advisory Council, Relay for Life and a Transportation Committee. The efforts of dedicated community volunteers, especially parents, on these and other local committees are invaluable to the district. |

Lawrence recognizes that not all students learn in the same way. In every classroom, teachers identify and nurture each student’s unique strengths, and allow that student to develop the skills and confidence to succeed. Through small class sizes, advanced technology, multi-sensory instruction and hands-on learning opportunities, students are able to grow as successful learners.
